Blue Ridge Georgia Vacation News Update: July 7th 2012
Lake Blue Ridge is not only a great place to kick back and relax while you are on vacation in the North Georgia Mountains, it is also where round 5 of the exciting Stand Up Paddle (SUP) Splash Series will take place as well as the World Paddle Association(WPA) Mid-South Regional finals.
Starting Friday September 14th, there will be a kickoff party at Lake Blue Ridge with a mellow sunset paddle followed by a bonfire and music. The next day races begin at 10 am with trophies and a huge party following the last race.
If all of this excitement and fun was not enough for you, Sunday is fun paddle down the beautiful Toccoa River that flows northwestward through the southern Appalachian Mountains of Northern Georgia. You may get to even see a few early leaves starting to change color in and around Blue Ride Georgia!
Popular radio host Leslie Kolovich will emcee the racing which will include 2 mile Recreational Class for both men and women, a 4 mile Open Class for Men and Women, Grand Masters for those 50+ and Juniors and finally the 8 mile Elite Class for Men and Women.
Even though Stand Up Paddling is a new sport to those of us here in Lake Blue Ridge Georgia, the promoter of this event is expecting about 150 paddlers to participate in this event and hundreds of spectators watching the action.
